Dr. Fahoum received her Ph.D. in biotechnology from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, and dedicated her doctoral and post-doctoral research to investigate the impact of iron homeostasis on inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Her research proposes a targeted treatment for IBD by impeding a non-immune system pathway with minimal side effects. During her research, Dr. Fahoum formulated a new cellular co-culture model that accurately replicated the observed iron patterns in vivo in IBD models. With her extensive experience in both in vitro and in vivo models, Dr. Fahoum possesses high skills in designing and evaluating in vitro models.
